‘I was so furious I couldn’t get words out’: Bridesmaid Olga wears a bright red dress to an all black wedding as a “prank,” humiliates the bride, plays it off as a joke, and gets blocked

  • My bridesmaid wore a bright red dress to my ALL-BLACK wedding “as a prank.”

  • My (25F) wedding was just under two weeks ago, and honestly... it was the happiest day of my entire life.
  • But of course, every wedding has that one person who decides the day isn't about the couple after all.

  • For us, that person was one of my bridesmaids, let's call her Olga (22F). Our theme was ALL BLACK.

  • Not "mostly black." Not "black with a pop of colour." No. Black. And everyone knew this.

  • Wedding party included. On the wedding morning, all my bridesmaids looked gorgeous, elegant, matching, classy. We were supposed to leave the room together and head to the chapel, but right as we walked out, Olga suddenly claimed she needed to "fix her makeup" and would meet us there.

  • Fine. No drama. Yet. We waited in a cute little lounge before the ceremony. Then, five minutes before the entrance, Olga arrives.

  • In. A. Bright. Tight. Red. Dress. And not a subtle red. I mean STOP-SIGN red. She told the choreographer that I had approved it.

  • (I obviously hadn't.) When the doors opened and I started walking down the aisle, I was totally locked in on my husband... until that flash of red burned into my peripheral vision.

  • There she was. Front row. Standing out like a fire alarm at a funeral. I held it together for the ceremony because I wasn't letting her ruin anything.

  • But the second it ended, I went to her. Before I could even speak, she burst out laughing.

  • Laughing so hard she couldn't breathe. Then she said: "You should've seen your face." I was so furious I couldn't get words out.

  • My hands were literally shaking. I quietly told the photographer to keep her out of every single photo and ignored her the rest of the night.

  • Since the day AFTER the wedding, she has been nonstop messaging me !paragraphs! about how it was "just a prank," how I'm "taking things too seriously," and how I "should relax because it was all in good fun." It's been almost two weeks.

  • I still haven't replied. Do I confront her? Block her? End the friendship? How do you come back from someone humiliating you on your wedding day and then LAUGHING in your face over it?

  • *Update Thank you to everyone who has commented on my post, it is truly amazing how Charlotte's potatoes rally to defend their own.

  • Just to clarify, to the people who are saying this is fake and badly written (sorry about that) English is not my first language, yes I asked Al to rewrite my words.

  • After reading all the comments, the popular opinion is to block and move on, I am happy to say that I have done so and did not expect to get the level of satisfaction which I did.

  • LosAngel1935 What she did was not a prank. She was trying to be the center of attention. She wanted all eyes on her. She is not your friend. She had this planned long before the wedding. You need to block her and forget about her. You always throw out the trash, right? She is no different. Don't confront her, don't answer any calls or text. Don't give her the satisfaction of trying to explain it or worse try blame you and to make you seem like the bad guy. These types always do saying you don't

  • lianavan You block and cut them out of your life.

  • FallenAngel_00 She should explain what was so funny about this "joke". Weddings are not the time or the place for dumb "jokes" and "pranks"
    via Basic_Caterpillar_30
  • I-said-ur-stupid Don't ever talk to her again. What she did was inexcusable, and it was definitely not a joke.
    via Basic_Caterpillar_30
  • Organic_Start_420 Send her the bill for everything you paid for the wedding. She's responsible for the bill due to her 'prank'. Seriously tho block her
    via Basic_Caterpillar_30
  • Aggravating-Ratio 193 Not funny at all! Block her.
    via Basic_Caterpillar_30
  • bookreader-123 I don't get why people don't throw those people out right away. That way every one knows where they stand and you can enjoy your day.

  • CodUnlikely2052 A more appropriate and less harmful version of this prank would have been for her to put the red dress on while you all were getting ready, let you see her in it, have some laughs, and then change into the correct dress. This was not a prank- this was an "I want the attention on me for the whole wedding" choice. She wore it into the ceremony?! And the reception?! She's not a friend bc a friend would know better. Cut your losses.
