'Enjoy "living" in your home': 20+ Signs with quotation marks that made people do a double take

A good sign will inform people about what your business does, but a great sign will make them stop in their tracks and go inside your store. Of course, it's not exactly effortless to make a sign. All the time I spot signs with spelling errors, grammar mistakes, or the worst offense of them all — a sign written with Comic Sans font. The horror! 

Some businesses just don't have the budget to hire a designer, so they roll up their sleeves and try it out for themselves. It's just the owner of the company, a Word document, and a printer. And for some reason, a lot of these sign-makers love to put quotes for "emphasis." Instead of italicising something for emphasis — or adding * asterisks * for that extra attention-grabbing umph, as a lot of younger folks do — these sign-makers will throwing in a handful of quotation marks, sprinkling them in at random. We understand they're trying to emphasize something, but it's awfully funny to take these signs at face value. Like, what do you mean employees should "wash hands" before returning to work? Should they pretend to wash their hands? Are the sign-writers trying to find a loophole? Many such questions arise when these quotes are misused!
