'We found him because he screamed at us': A lost orange cat with no chip, no food, and no care calls out from the bushes and ends up with pawrents ready to protect, feed, and finally love him

A city street isn't usually where you expect to meet a new best furiend, but this little guy clearly had other plans. In a downtown neighborhood with no strays or outdoor cats, he announced himself loudly from the bushes. Once he realized help had arrived, all that panic turned into purrs. He was skinny, dirty, and incredibly hungry, yet still so affectionate once he felt safe.

Right now, he's settling into a temporary home, isolated from two senior cats and alternating between snuggle sessions and inhaling every meal like he hasn't eaten properly in ages. Flyers in the area brought a few responses, and one neighbor confirmed what they feared: he might have been abandoned. Tomorrow's vet visit will tell them what he needs, and possibly whether someone out there is technically his owner… but not necessarily someone who cared for him.

Whether he ends up reunited or officially adopted, one thing is already clear: this sweet boy chose the right hoomans to scream at from the bushes. And after surviving the city alone, he deserves nothing less than a safe, loving future.

    If it turns out that he does have an owner, we're worried they weren't taking good care of him (dirty from being outside, not fixed, starving, long nails.) Any tips for in case that happens?

  • Even if someone out there claims him, you’re already doing more for this sweet guy than anyone else has. A cat deserves a home that actually cares, and he’s clearly found one with you.

  • If someone owned him before, they clearly weren’t looking or caring the way a cat deserves. No food, no chip, no effort to find him. Hungry and alone shouldn’t be “normal” for any pet.

    No_Dog1192 If he does have an owner, do not give him back. He is yours now. He deserves responsible pet parents. Ask the so called "owner" for vet records to prove ownership. Clearly they haven't taken care of him & will not be able to provide evidence.
