Veterinarian confesses to secretly saving perfectly healthy animals that were brought in to be put to sleep by sending them to a rehoming center: 'Still charged for the "euthanasia"'

We think that every pet owner can agree on one thing, and that is that the thing we dread the absolute most is… that day. That one day, when our pets are old and tired, when they look out into the distance and see the rainbow bridge. No thought is worse than that one. And so we try to make the best out of every single day. We take pictures with them, we go on walks with them, even when our pets are seniors, we do everything that we can to bring as much joy into their lives as pawssible.

All of which is why this viral thread was so baffling to us. We love our pets, and we dread that day so much that we kind of assume that all pet owners are really like that. But apparently, that is not true. Apparently, for some people, once their pets are no longer easy to take care of, they do the worst thing. They don't try to rehome their pets, they don't drop them off at a shelter. No, they take their pets to the vet and pay actual money to make that day come sooner.

We cannot imagine how anyone would ever think to end the life of their pet when they don't have to. We understand the pain of not being able to take care of your pet anymore. Sometimes, that happens. But the solution is never ever to do this to them. Ever.

We cannot even tell you how happy it makes us to hear these stories - of people taking in animals who have been given this second chance. These animals did not deserve what was about to happen to them, and they are all in much, much better hands with these people.
