Boyfriend surprises picky-eater girlfriend with her favorite birthday breakfast, but when she discovers he used 2% milk in the eggs, she refuses to eat it, later insulting his cooking in front of her parents: 'We barely spoke the rest of the night'

Being a picky eater is something I could never relate to, nor am I sure I could date someone who wasn't a major foodie! But I guess there's a lid for every pot…and it seems as though this couple's pot is filled with some very plain rice and a side of flavorless tofu. However, in this specific relationship, the boyfriend is not nearly as picky an eater as his girlfriend, yet somehow they seemed to make it work…at least until her birthday came around. 

He thoughtfully woke her up to breakfast in bed, a sweet gesture to bring the happy to her birthday! However, once she discovered that he mixed the eggs with 2% milk, she absolutely lost it! Claiming that she could no longer eat the meal (because when she tried 2% milk at 3 years old, she wasn't a fan)…Her reaction was most definitely disappointing, but he pushed through in order not to ruin her special day. Fast forward to her birthday dinner, cooked by her dad. Suddenly, she started making all these passive digs at her boyfriend regarding his 'risky' cooking skills, in front of her parents… Maybe he could've dealt with the meal rejection, but publicly humiliating him in front of her whole family was where he drew the line. Looking at her with more disgust than she did the 2% milk.

  • Imagine trying to do something sweet and thoughtful for your partner's birthday, and all they do is use it as some sort of bland joke against you. We certainly wouldn't be happy with that! Nor do we blame this boyfriend for confronting her selfish and immature behavior. A joke is funny when you are laughing with someone, but the moment someone you love becomes the brunt of all your jokes…Perhaps it's time you start looking inward at that relationship.

  • For some background, she has always been somewhat of a picky eater in the sense that she will try things but if it doesnt blow her mind or make her happy/excited to eat it. then she wont finish it.

  • Because I noticed we ran out the other day. And you need whole milk for eggs" so I told her no and that I just used 2% because I couldnt stop halfway through to run out for 30 minutes to get milk.

  • Flashy Habit3030 You're NTA but your girlfriend is. If she didn't want to try the eggs okay, that's her choice. But the dig she directed towards you about cooking was uncalled for. Btw, I haven't put milk in my eggs for years and they're so much better. (My opinion.)
