18-year-old repeatedly catches her teen niece secretly using and wasting her perfumes and toiletries, discovering her untouched bottle of perfume was drained in one month, niece continues despite being warned to stop: 'This is mine and she knows that'

This aunt seems to have been involuntarily cast in the sister role in this Family Drama…She's eighteen years old and living with her thirteen-year-old niece, so there are bound to be a few sisterly crossover episodes! Family is family at the end of the day, whether they share parents or not. I have a little brother, so luckily I've never had to deal with the whole 'If you touch my perfume one more time' thing, but it's evident that's not the unique case for everyone. 

This young adult is fed up with her teenage niece, after catching her countless times using her perfumes and toiletries without asking. It's not that she has a problem with sharing them. It's more the fact that she never asks, and goes on to use the whole product as if she's trying to swim in it. Nobody needs that much perfume, especially when they're trying to get away with using it! This has been going on for years, but this aunt has finally reached a breaking point after finding her untouched perfume, almost completely drained after one month! She knows it's all materialistic goods, and that sharing is caring, but that does not mean that she has to sit back and act clueless!

However, the latter option makes her feel as though she's hiding a hazardous object away from a 2-month-old baby, not a thirteen-year-old girl who needs to learn what belongs to her, and what doesn't!

  • It's a big bottle and in less than a month it's almost completely gone and I've only used it probably twice.

  • LatterEbb9760 I've raised 3 kids. Look up frontal lobe development. She is displaying normal behavior of increased risk taking and impulsive behaviors. Everyone thinks she knows she's doing something wrong, but she probably just thinks that OP doesn't wanna share with her.

  • OP kahlumi But I have offered to share.. that's the issue, it's that I ask her to ask me first and I also don't want her using so much that it's just a waste. If she asked and didn't use so much, I would have virtually no problem with it. Even if she wants to use my "good" perfumes, I would give it to her no problem if she just asked. It's not that I don't want to share
