Man considers installing security cameras when he hears his truck door get slammed shut by one of his neighbors: ‘Now I’m paranoid’

Establishing trust with your neighbors is essential for maintaining a harmonious relationship when living in close proximity to one another. In large urban areas, apartment complex tenants bring their neighbors' packages in for them, preventing them from being stolen by random porch pirates.

In more suburban and rural areas, you might opt to let them know if their car light is on so their vehicle's battery doesn't drain. There are a multitude of ways to be a hospitable and helpful neighbor; touching someone else's vehicle without their permission is not one of them.

This next story highlights the possibly warranted paranoia that comes with having a close relationship with your neighbors. On the one hand, the close relationship establishes a level of trust that you don't have with just anyone; however, in the same vein, this closeness also leaves room for someone to take advantage of that closeness. The resident who posted this story explains that his car door was shut while he was inside his home, and his neighbor is likely the one responsible.     waowediting I would confront him but with this. "Hey, thanks for closing my truck door yesterday. I hadn't realized it was still open!" His reaction should tell you what you need to know.

    billjackson58 It's 75 yards from the street to the truck. Also, only the bed was visible from the road. I think the truck was an afterthought.

    Ok-Seat6154 Did you maybe leave your truck door open? My down the street neighbor knocked at my door and told me my door was open and had been for quite a while. I went out and sure enough the door was wide open. No idea how I did that.

    Competitive-Catch776 You yourself said you rushed, perhaps it wasn't shut all the way? Maybe he thought it looked weird and wanted to make sure you weren't in need of help or someone else had taken something. Either way, just get some cameras. If they have been good to you in the past, it's best to just be aware but, not say anything. You have to cohabit in the same neighborhood and he didn't take anything so..just be cautious and get some cameras.

    billjackson58 It's an old GMC 4x4 parked on a slight angle. The door wouldn't stay open for any reason lol. Barely stays open while driving!

    JohnGault67 Probably a very simple explanation: He noticed your door wide open on your vehicle, thought it was odd... then thought maybe you were dead inside of it, wanted to see if you were ok. Found the truck empty and figured that you accidently left the door open, so he shut it.

    billjackson58 That's what I'd like to think but the door was shut and the way he looked between walking in front of the house and turning up the driveway. His expression changed to almost like a "wtf is b "kinda look.
