‘[She’s] constantly trying to throw me under the bus’: Finance employee struggles with coworker who screenshots mistakes, excludes them from meetings, and reports them to management while hiding her own errors to look competent

Accountability is something many people struggle with for some time, but this finance team's version takes it to accounting levels of pettiness. This woman screenshots Slack messages like she is gathering evidence for a courtroom drama, forwarding examples of confusion to managers while her own mistakes vanish under the fluorescent lights. She is less of a colleague and more of a live-action LinkedIn post about accountability.  

Her hunger for praise borders on performance art. She rushes to managers with news of a minor typo like she is reporting insider trading. She openly roasts ex-team members and quietly edits history to make herself the lone competent survivor. Meetings without you suddenly appear on her calendar, and you can practically hear her typing up her hero narrative before the agenda hits your inbox. Her vibe is corporate mean girl meets surveillance intern.

  • But here is the beauty of people like this, they always overplay the role. Soon she will contradict herself in an email thread or copy the wrong manager while trying to bury someone else’s blunder. Office gossip moves faster than quarterly revenue, and eventually everyone realizes the pattern. Until then, treat her like weather, document the chaos, stay indoors when it storms, and wait for management to notice she is the one bringing the noise. In every workplace ecosystem there is always one coworker who mistakes paranoia for professionalism. Thankfully HR loves receipts.
