Variety reported March 25 that Saturday Night Live Alumni Nasim Pedrad is in the process of developing her own show with the FOX network.
This hopefully is great news.
Let's explain why:
She was consistently underrated in SNL
Even after years of making us laugh with each appearance on SNL, her woeful Wikipedia page doesn't leave much of a lasting legacy for her.
It lists three of her eight recurring characters as Pippa, one of the back-up singers on What Up With That?; Hu Jintao's translator at the G20 Summit meetings' and Nancy, one of the singing sisters on The Lawrence Welk Show.
Those are three mostly silent stock roles that could have been played by any actor.
For shame, person who wrote the entry.
She gave the world Shallon
Science is still investigating why this is so funny to me.
She can commit
If it needs to be brought, she can bring it and make sure it stays brought.
She keeps it physical. Where it belongs.
Her impressive impressions
We're not talking about Kim Kardashian. Her five years at SNL left us with a real fun treasure trove of various impressions to enjoy.
Some that didn't make it to air, only to surface in the aftermath.
She's incredibly charming
Never mean, never lowbrow, always charming.
She deserves so much better than Mulaney
The 13-episode waste pile of a season not only showed off the worst of hilarious writer John Mulaney, it also did awful by Nasim Pedrad.
It gave her line after line of personality-less drek to spit onto a live studio audience, while shrugging in that sitcom way.
She deserves better and if her show falls flat on its Mulaney, maybe we can re-think this list.
But for now, we'll stay excited.
