Pawrent rushes outside to find their "missing" cat, pays over $400 at the vet, then comes home and realizes it wasn't their cat at all: 'I am now the accidental owner of a second, very expensive cat'

Lucky for us, none of our cats has any desire to go outside, so we have no flight risks in our house. We could leave the door wide open for hours if we wanted to and they wouldn't step one purrfect paw out the door, but that's not true for every cat. Some cats will run at even the slightest opening, not knowing that what they have inside is so much better than life outdoors. It's one of every cat pawrents' greatest fears - the cat escaping and them never coming back. That's what struck our pawrent below, and they went on a wild ride to rescue "their" cat.

They thought they lost their cat, 'Luna', after accidentally leaving the door open. Rushing outside to rescue them, they find a black cat limping outside. Without thinking, they scoop up the cat and drive to the vet, spending over $400 on treatment. Antibiotics, check up, the whole works. Finally letting out a sigh of relief, the pawrent and "her" cat drive home. She lets the cat out of the carrier, and lo and behold, her cat appears from behind the sofa. Uh oh!

We're not sure if they accidentally stole a neighbor's cat or rescued a stray, but in the end, they did a good thing. The Cat Distribution System works in purrfectly unconventional ways, and they may be $400 poorer, but hey, they got a new cat!   • If a “pspspsps” and shaking the treat bag doesn't work, you're in trouble. That always works, so we understand why they panicked. We do have one secret trick that we only use in emergencies, and that's to crinkle any plastic bag loudly. It sounds a lot like opening a fresh bag of treats, which sends all our kitties running 100% of the time.

    Nothing. I went into full panic mode. I grabbed a flashlight and ran outside. I spent 15 minutes checking the bushes until I saw a pair of yellow eyes reflecting from under my neighbor's porch.

    We don't know what neighbors named their cat, but my sister calls it "State Farm". It's a good neighbor, and is always there. Thank you for helping the damaged kitty. :)

You love your cat and the universe made sure that an identical looking cat that needed help was in your line of sight and in the right moment you were able to help this cat who needed it.     Colanasou I had a cat, we named him "pine cat" or just pine for short. Dude spent a weekend stuck in a tree nesr our house in the snow, rain, and wind. Finally got him down andy mom brought him in to get him warm. Cool dude. We live in the woods and like 8 months later he just never came back

    one day, looked for a few days and accepted he got grabbed. Like 6 months later theres a post on Facebook for a found cat 2 miles aways. Looks exactly like him so we go get him. Was NOT our cat and it took us 3 days to realize it. Nobody else was looking for it though.

    Keep the cat overnight, and ask some immediate neighbors if they have one or know about him. If its theirs theyll probably meet you on the bill or something for the cat. Yours will adjust soon to it being there.
