  • "The stranger who saved our weekend"

A few years ago, my wife and I were heading to a cabin for a weekend getaway when my car started making horrible noises. We pulled over, turns out the serpentine belt was shredded from an oil leak. We were completely stuck on the side of the road.
  • Within five minutes, a guy named Marcus stopped to help. He drove me to grab a replacement belt, but we couldn't install it ourselves.
  • Then he did something incredible, he offered to lend us his spare vehicle for the weekend so we wouldn't miss our trip.
  • Two complete strangers, and he just handed over his keys. Took a pic of my license and that was it.
  • Lone mountain man walking in the woods.
  • We made it to our cabin. A mobile mechanic fixed my car later that day, and we returned Marcus's vehicle the next evening.
  • I still think about him. He didn't have to stop. He definitely didn't have to trust us with his car. But he did, without hesitation. That's the kind of kindness that sticks with you.
  • Decemberchild76 I was in the middle of nowhere, 20 years old, and the car makes horrible noise so I pull into the one pump. gas station. I explain my situation. The guy says go knock on the door across the
  • street and talk to the old geezer. So, I figure I had nothing else to lose. This old decrepit man came out and hobbled across the street to my car. He said my belt is shot..why I am driving some foreign hunk of junk. Told me I
  • didn't have a lick of sense, but he thinks he was a lawnmower belt that might work. He replaces it and refuses any money. He said sweetie I fear you have more boobs than brains buying a puddle jumper, (1976 Honda Civic). That belt lasted 100 K miles.
  • peoplesuck64 Amazing story and amazing people out there!! Thanks for sharing!!
  • Knitsanity Twenty plus years ago we were in the UK visiting my MIL with our toddler. We left her place and we're driving to my friends house about 4 hours away. Of course the toddler decides to projectile vomit in the back seat. Everywhere.
  • We pull over into this little forecourt of a sort of garage with a little Chef next door (IYKYK).
  • Hubby sends me off with the toddler to get them cleaned up and changed while he tackles the car seat and floor and passenger seat back etc.
  • The guy who runs the garage comes running out...takes. quick stock and disappears. Comes back with a bucket of warm clean water....and
  • unwraps a new sponge and cleaning clothes from the little garage shop. Takes the stripped down car seat off to hose down while hubby tackled the rest.
  • What a hero. Wouldn't let us pay for the supplies or give him any money.
  • We eventually got everything sorted and rolled up to my friend's house... hugged her...and asked to do laundry. Lol
