'Day 3 of being a cat dad': After weeks of uncertainty, a former stray officially becomes Bruce Wayne, settling into indoor life with cuddles, zoomies, window watching, and a hooman who is already completely smitten

What started as a moment of hesitation turned into a full-on Cat Distribution System success story. After rescuing a tough-looking stray and worrying about whether he already belonged to someone, the answer became clear just in time for Christmas. With some budgeting, helpful advice from fellow cat people, and a flexible landlord, Bruce Wayne officially found his forever home.

Bruce Wayne is about a year and a half old and somehow manages to look like a gritty vigilante while acting like the world's happiest goofball. He is loud, affectionate, and completely fearless with people. He greets his human with excited yelling, tail shivers, surprise leaps for head scritches, and nightly cuddle sessions. Even after only a few days, the bond is already obvious. This former stray has settled into indoor life with a level of trust and love that feels almost unreal.

There are still adjustments to make. Bruce misses the outdoors and has strong opinions about doors, but playtime, window watching, and a newly discovered love for high perches are helping. It turns out vertical space is the key to his happiness, even in a small apartment. This story is a reminder that sometimes the hardest part of adopting is the beginning, and that with patience, creativity, and a little community support, the right cat always finds their way home.

    My furry son's name is Bruce Wayne :) He is 1.5 years old and has a tough guy appearance with the sweetest personality. He's such a silly little dude! He's very vocal too! Whenever I come home or play with him, he screams with delight and gets the shivers in his tail with excitement.

    He hops onto his back feet and shoots like a missile into the air when he wants head scritches!! He also love cuddles at night. Despite being a former stray, he is so lovey and unafraid of people. I love him so much already, despite it only being day 3 of being a cat dad.

    Lastly, he also has a tendency to run for the door as I go to leave the house. He definitely wants outside, but seems to slowly be getting more comfortable indoors. Still, it kills me to see him desperate to go outside when I have to deny him that. How can I make these thinfs easier?

    happyharbingers Look up harness training for cats! I also adopted a stray who really loved being outside, and once he realized the harness would get him there he picked it up really quick.

  • Harness training could be a great compromise for him. It lets him safely enjoy fresh air and explore without the risks of roaming. With patience and treats, it can turn outdoor cravings into supervised adventures that still feel exciting and enriching.
