After working in the wedding industry, I'd wager that I've seen it all. When it comes to women in white, families tend to lose their good sense of conscience, scraping every penny out of their vendor's pockets, sneaking out of agreements, and generally losing all sense of decorum. As a wedding coordinator, I often became the blame for every ill-fated turn of the evening and became the scapegoat for all things messy. This is the kind of industry that builds a tough skin, but it's still hard for vendors to stand up for themselves against the strongest of MIL opponents. When it's you against an entire army of parents, cousins, grannies, and cake-fueled children, vendors frequently let their own needs fall by the wayside to avoid conflict.
This band leader, however, wouldn't stand for the poor treatment. They had a contract with this family, and they were diligently performing their end of the deal. It was about time the other side of the aisle did the same.
