Wedding band halts their performance after the family goes back on their promise to cater the musician's dinner, leveraging fair treatment with deafening silence: ‘Being fed was part of the agreement’

When there's been a breach of contract in any business, services are halted until further notice. But when a blushing bride is doing the Mamba #5 on the dance floor, is it unethical for the musicians to put their foot down, hold the line on their contract, and stop playing music until their terms have been met? Certainly not. 

This wedding band was struggling to score enough gigs to put food on the table, so as a bonus on their most discounted performances, they made clear that they were supposed to be allowed a plate of food from the caterers on their breaks. This is not an uncommon agreement. Having spent several years working in the wedding industry, feeding your vendors is standard practice, but when this family went back on their promise to provide food for the band, they retaliated by refusing to continue to provide music. 

Touché! Mother-of-the-bride wasn't too keen on continuing an evening in absolute silence, so almost immediately their terms were met. If only they'd honored their contractual agreement from the beginning, then the father-daughter dance wouldn't have been ruined by the record-screeching silence of unpaid workers. 

"We just wanted the agreement to be honored."
