It's a new year, and we're still parenting the same old way. Sure, we're evolving with the times. We're learning and growing just like any parent is, but just because the calendar has turned to January doesn't mean we're any more evolved than we usually are. It's been a heck of a time to be a parent. We've shepherded them through all of winter break, only at the cost of our sanity. We bought gifts and took them to see family, and had to endure a lot through that. A lot of sugar highs and holiday lows. The thrill of watching them open up a gift, and then the despair of realizing that you don't have the right batteries to get it running, and none of the stores are open. There are a lot of ups and downs to the holiday season, and now we get the long stretch of January, where things are staying the same, and that's generally a good thing.

The kids are back at school and not a minute too soon. But it is weirdly quiet around the house. But you can't complain about it too much or else they'll come rushing back, and you'll be up to your ears in requests for snacks. It's a peaceful-ish time. About as peaceful as it can get, without the chaos of summer or the new beginning of fall. We're settled into a nice winter routine, and we're happy to stay in it for a while. And part of our routine is tweets.
