  • My boss just said he plans on me moving in with him

So I work as a video guy for a guy whose trying to make it as a luxury YouTuber.
  • He comes from familial wealth and used it to build his own business and now he's trying to pivot into becoming an influencer.
  • We filmed a vlog all day last week and while we driving around, he said come later this year, he plans on putting both of us in a house so we can film content basically whenever he wants I am absolutely not comfortable with this whatsoever.

  • We have only been working together for 6 months and I srsly don't see him as anything more than the guy who gives me my check.
  • I've already started looking into new jobs and worst comes to show, I'm willing to go back to freelancing, but I just wanted to vent.
  • Tbh, I don't see this dude making it no matter how much effort I put in.
  • His whole strategy is just copying whatever is trending and constantly asks ChatGPT 'will doing this get me famous'.
  • You can almost never get a word in trying to talk to him and he already expects me to be a one-man production company.

  • He's seriously just too much
  • veridigiris He sounds needy. The constant "will this make me famous" chatgpt stuff is cringe but yes, can milk it maybe just not living with him. Some rich people refuse to pay their employees or dues or use bankruptcy to skirt payments....
  • Portgase_D_Ace Original Poster's Reply Dude, he doesn't have me touch the branding or do any titles or hashtags, his strategy is just have like 50 hashtags in the descriptions and then spend money to boost the vids (still does shit numbers tho)
  • yorkshirewisfom If you have to bring that here for advice, you probably beyond help.
  • Portgase_D_Ace Original Poster's Reply I literally said I'm looking for a new job and I'm just venting
  • jimyjami Man! Map out the job with this guy. Get a salary out of him that affords you to live there "with him" a few days a week as well as a nice place of your own. Then double it or triple it haha. He's wealthy, he can afford it. "Let's do the numbers:" Four days a week with the boss = 96 hours. Another 12-16 "processing/production." Say, 110 hours x $100/hour (that's cheap, BTW) = $11,000/week. Get six months out of him = $286,000. Then scoot or take a two month sabbatical and repeat. Will th
  • Wakemeup3000 Nothing says I value you as an employee like making a plan to have you on call 24/7. If you follow through set hours and charge him a lot of money for your services. He can afford to pay for his venture into stardom. Dude has zero knowledge of anything so take advantage of that.
  • Friendly_Hope7726 Is he a real employer? Is he actually paying your withholding taxes?
  • remainderrejoinder You need to hire you own video guy to follow both of you around. That's the show.
  • leafyspirit Do you have an employment contract, job description, etc? If not, I wouldn't even really call this a job, more like an arrangement where you are paid, if that makes sense. If this guy fails at social media success, would you still be able to use him as a reference or point on your resume? If you don't want to move in with him, then just don't. If you're fired or something because of it, then too bad, it was a bad arrangement and the guy sounds annoying to be around anyways, let alone
  • Carolann0308 Marry him and take half his money. Lol
  • bluebayou_cd Your boss is giving me the ick
