If you enjoy working retail, you might be in the 1% of employees there who enjoy their work. It's hard! You're on your feet all day long, serving entitled customers who demand the impossible, for bosses who try to do as little work as humanly possible. It's just grueling, and for what? $7.50 or $15 an hour?
For a lot of people, working in a retail position is just one stop along a long career path. You spend a few years there as a teen, then head off to college to get the training you need for a better job.
For these workers, though, their tenure in retail positions ended far sooner than expected because they quit on the spot!

That "If you have time to lean, you have time to clean" mentality is the worst
via ixsparkyxA lot of bosses do this! When every cleaning chore is done, they'll simply tell you to sweep and mop a second time. It seemingly punishes fast workers for getting their tasks done in a timely manner.

Are we noticing a common theme in these excellent stories? Almost every single one involves a manager who's got straight-up disdain for their workers, who refuses to stand up for them, who requires 130% effort even on their worst days. That's how it goes — employees will put up with a lot, but a poor management system can make even the most seasoned employees turn to other job options.

The boss clearly didn't understand the severity of the situation here
via Overall_Restaurant28Back pain can really and truly keep you down! It can make it so that you can only hunch over on the ground — getting up can be physically impossible. how should one run a store that way? It can't be done!
