'My life is [messed] up, and I don't want hers to be': Homeless woman hands person a tiny void kitten, trying to give her a better chance at life, and changes the feline's fate forever

All kittens are meant to be spoiled rotten, and that is a simple fact of life. 

As much as stray cats may love their independence and freedom to do whatever the heck they want all the time, there is a reason why cats domesticated themselves. It's just so, so much nicer to be spoiled inside, where you can wrap yourself in a kitty purrito and food is only a couple of screams away. A cat who has decided that it is time to be adopted is also a cat that has decided to be spoiled. And we think that the woman that we will be talking about in this story knew it the same way that we know it. 

It doesn't happen every day that you end up adopting a cat because a kind homeless woman handed it to you, but it is definitely going to be a story that we remember. She did the right thing. She found this kitten, rescued it, and knew that, as much as she may have wanted, she would not be able to spoil the kitty the way that she deserves to be spoiled. We think that what she says encapsulates the whole story: "My life is [messed] up, and I don't want hers to be".

  • Honestly, we appreciate this woman so much. This is a person full of so much kindness in their hearts, so much desire to give, to love. She knew that this kitty had a much better chance of living the spoiled rotten life that she deserves in a warm home, rather than on the street. She knew that the kitty would be much safer there, would live a longer life there. We could only say thank you to her - for finding the kitten, for taking care of the kitten as long as she had before, and for finding a person who was actually willing and happy to take her, to adopt her. Thank you.

    RevGee73 Please be careful introducing the dog... you need to be sure the dog is okay with the cat. I know of a horrible story I will not tell here, but long story short... dog thought cat was a toy. Be super cautious until you're sure the dog welcomes the cat.

  • We think this is a great idea actually. And maybe if the full name is a problem, you could use a nickname, something similar to the name of the woman who gave you this cat. In an ideal world, this woman would be able to see the kitty again - whether in pictures or if you ever decide to take your kitty on a walk. We don't know if that would be possible, but we would hope that it would be, that you could show this kitty - happy and thriving - to the person who saved her.

    redcolumbine Name her Lucky? Handle her feet frequently so she gets used to it and will let you trim her nails.

    jamiemars168 This!! This is love!! She gave her up so that she could have a good life. Thank you for taking her in!! Just be careful in introducing the kitten to your dog and supervise the time they spend together bc of their difference in size.
