Every once in a while, a non-cat person will spend some time in our home, see the way that we treat our cats, and say something along the lines of "why are you letting them rule the household?" And our answer is always the same. We know what our place is when it comes to our cats. We know who the boss of the house is, and our cats know it too. So, if our cats yell to bring them food, we do. If they want pets, we oblige. And if they tell us that we have to worship them daily by laughing at as many cat memes as we can, we… that is not the worst fate that we can think of.

It's always fun to see the way that cats behave with other cats… to see them causing as much chaos with each other as they do with us. Because they do it with us all the time. We will be lying in bed, innocently about to go to sleep, when our cats will, out of nowhere, decide to attack our legs. And we are just as unsuspecting as the kitty in this meme is. And we think, sometimes, about doing the same thing to them, but we cannot bear the thought of annoying them too much. So, when they do it to each other… it just feels like they are doing it for us.

It really must feel funny, from the purrspective of a cat, to have all these restrictions put upon them. It truly must be difficult to go through the day without causing exactly as much chaos as they want to. We keep bothering them when they are about to do the things that they want to do, like ripping our couches to shreds, or using our curtains as their personal toys, or putting their booties on our faces in the middle of the night while we sleep. Must be hard. Meanwhile, we are here, just wishing that our lives could be a little more like our cats'.
