'I just left my job for them!': Candidate accepts job offer with 50% pay raise and resigns from old job, new company suddenly cancels position due to “restructuring,” leaving them unemployed, prompting them to post harsh reviews online

Is leaving a bad company review valid if the company ghosts you after signing their job offer?

A dodgy company is much like a toxic potential lover. They woo you, promising endless perks and benefits if you leave your current partner…And just as you finally break it off and are ready to commit to them…They ghost you. Cold. Out of the blue. As if you never mattered at all.

A company might call it a "sudden restructuring" or "termination of the position," but it's really the same thing. The only difference is the blazers and scheduled lunch breaks. And much like any wronged individual, they'd likely discuss their newfound hatred for this person with everyone they know, ensuring he or she earns themselves the 'can't be trusted' reputation they deserve. So if this is the case, why wouldn't a 'kicked to the curb' employee do the exact same thing…Write shocking reviews about the company all over the internet, so that they, too, get the reputation they deserve!

  • Three interviews later, this candidate finally received a job offer less than an hour after his latest one-on-one. Not only was he excited for a new ‘change of scenery', but the 50% pay raise definitely added some sparkle to the offer. He accepted it immediately and had all the paperwork signed with HR. He already resigned from his previous job and was ready for this new chapter, only to receive a cold email eight days later, explaining that the position was ‘eliminated.' He was a wrecked mixture of shocked, confused, and most importantly, unemployed! (All because of them) He channelled that anger and began writing truthful reviews about his experience with the company…

    As you can imagine, his words did not work wonders for their reputation, as their HR woman got in contact with him and immediately demanded that he take the posts down. But he was not willing to listen to anything she had to say, as he understood that revenge is a dish best served online! And he was ready to tear them down!

    tnmoi Yes, DO NOT REMOVE. They will threaten to sue. Let them and counter sue for the harm they have inflicted on you. Lost wages and livelihood for the foreseeable future! In your case, it is really easy to prove. Make sure you did not put down emotions in your review. Just state facts. Interviews on dates 1, 2, 3. Offer letter received at this date. Signed offer on x date. Signed onboarding paperwork on this date. Received retraction on this date via email. Then received a phone call to remove

I'm sorry if this is reflecting poorly, but this was my honest and candid experience. It's regretful that the 'sudden restructuring' created the situation that we both face, hopefully in the future that doesn't happen.. leaving your company with poor employee experiences, and me without a job.

    TonalContrast Don't change the review. Contact a lawyer for proper advice as you may have a claim against the company. I had this happen very early in my career and one letter from my lawyer got their attention and a settlement was negotiated.

    SnooCupcakes4075 Easy to fix, they replace your income for the duration of your unemployment since it was caused by them. They get the bad review removed (for now), you get the time you need to move past their idiocy. Or they can find you a spot like the one they rug-pulled on you...........
