Employee who thrives on workplace drama loses his mind after coworker launches a silent revenge campaign: 'If you can't tell, I don't like Jim'

Every workplace has a Jim.

Jim does everything he can to avoid real work. He spreads rumors about coworkers, cracks inappropriate jokes, and somehow manages to stick around despite all the complaints to management. He stands too close, leans in when people are sitting, and always seems to be hovering.

Jim is exhausting.

Even after several reports, nothing changed. When Jim began picking on one coworker with petty complaints and obvious attempts to annoy, something shifted. It wasn't anger or confrontation. It was strategy.

Instead of reacting, the coworker went quiet.

First, there was the cart. Jim has a favorite golf cart at work, and one day he found it completely empty. No paperwork, no tools, no supplies. Everything that belonged to the company had been neatly taken out. Nothing was missing, but everything was gone. Seeing Jim search every compartment, clearly confused, was very satisfying.

Next was the ignition trick. Jim's cart lets you take out the key while the ignition is still on. The coworker started using a universal key to turn it back to 'off' whenever the cart was left alone. Just imagining Jim jumping in, hitting the gas, and not moving became a daily boost for everyone's mood.

But the real power move wasn't about things. It was about people.

    No greetings, no eye contact, no acknowledgment. Not even a nod or a smile. Nothing. One day, Jim pulled up next to the coworker, clearly wanting to talk. The coworker waited until Jim’s cart rolled back a little as it stopped, then drove off without saying a word, leaving Jim stuck in the middle of the road.

    No confrontation. No blowup. No drama.

    Just silence, missing tools, and a cart that wouldn’t work.

    Jim needs attention. Without it, he’s left confused, inconvenienced, and powerless. As it turns out, that’s the most effective response of all.

    Some people rely on getting a reaction. If you take that away, they suddenly don’t know what to do.

  • sphinxyhiggins Thanks. It took me a looong time to recognize the pattern. He really loved making drama. I haven't spoken to him in five years and my life is so different. It is peaceful and my health is the best it has ever been in my life. I miss him but I am not sure what miss.

  • Harrymoto1970 If he uses the same cart everyday, lower the tire pressure in one tire one day and rotate through. Figuring out the cause will drive him a little bit crazy. If they're electric, loosen a ground on a battery, it will make do intermittent issues
