He found an old photo of Chad at a lake, wearing a backward baseball cap, flexing awkwardly next to a coworker. The image was harmless but deeply unflattering, hardly the commanding presence Chad liked to project. The attorney printed multiple copies and taped one to the inside of his blinds, facing outward. On the back, visible only from inside the office, was a note politely asking whoever kept opening the blinds to stop, along with a warning that more copies were ready if the photo disappeared.
The next morning, the blinds were closed but the photo was gone. Only a small strip of tape was left. The attorney put up another copy, and again, the photo disappeared overnight while the blinds stayed shut. After that, the tampering stopped for good.
The desk remained messy. The blinds stayed closed. And Chad never mentioned it again.
