'My adopted stray just had 6 kittens on me': A once semi-feral porch cat chose the couch and the human she trusts most to bring her babies into the world

She went from porch mama to couch mama.

Last April, Salt showed up and dropped off five tiny kittens on the porch, then treated the place like a daycare. She'd come back for meals and disappear again, leaving the kittens behind. Finding homes has been a slow process, and Salt herself never stayed long enough to get fixed. She kept her distance and her independence.

About a week ago, she returned very pregnant and clearly ready for something different. This time, she wanted inside. She'd been unusually clingy ever since, sticking close and wanting company. The change was obvious.

Then tonight, while her human was half-asleep on the couch, Salt climbed up next to them and went into labor. No hiding, no running off. She chose that moment and that spot. Six kittens were born right there, and somehow only one of them has a tail.

Salt's past makes it hit harder. She was abandoned by neighbors when they moved and spent time semi-feral before being fed regularly last year. Now she's affectionate, trusting, and clearly bonded to the person she chose.

From leaving kittens behind on a porch to curling up beside someone to give birth, Salt's story is a reminder of what time and consistency can do. She found safety, and she decided to stay.
