  • Maid holding all of her house cleaning supplies.
  • Convinced my husband to try a house cleaning service for 3 months as an experiment. Heres what happened
  • So me and my husband have been fighting about chores for literally our entire marriage. I do most of it and resent him. He thinks he helps more than he does. Classic stuff.
  • Messy bedroom in need of being cleaned.
  • 3 months ago I proposed we try a house cleaning service biweekly just to see if it helped our relationship. He thought it was a waste of money but agreed to try it.
  • The results, we haven't had a single fight about cleaning. Not one. Weekends are actually relaxing now. We went on a hike last Saturday instead of spending 4 hours cleaning bathrooms.
  • The cost is about $300/month which isnt nothing but honestly we were spending that much on takeout because we were too tired to cook after cleaning all weekend.
  • Anyone else find that a house cleaning service saved their marriage lol or am I just dramatic?
  • Happy couple embracing in their clean house.
  • FireRescue3 It didn't save our marriage but it did save our sanity. It's so much easier to keep a tidy house clean, and so much more relaxing to not have to constantly worry about what needs to be done.
  • OP Comfortable_Box_4527 Right. Like the house stays cleaner between visits too because you're not starting from a disaster every time. Its way easier to maintain.
  • Young woman overwhelmed by a pile of laundry.
  • SadDate9398 People underestimate how much chores kill mood. This makes sense. You bought time back. That matters.
  • OP Comfortable_Box_4527 Exactly. It wasn't even about the cleaning itself. It was the constant low level stress and resentment. Having time back changed everything.
  • Be_Digitall this is not dramatic at all. you basically figured out what most couples take years to learn. the cleaning itself isnt the problem its the scorekeeping and resentment that builds up over time. $300 sounds like a lot until you do the math on what your free time is actually worth. plus you said it yourself youre not ordering takeout from exhaustion anymore so its basically a wash. if anyone else is thinking about trying this just shop around a bit. modern maids does biweekly scheduling
  • SqueegieeBeckenheim How many bathrooms do you have that it takes four hours? Serious question.
  • Middle_Ad_7835 Best money we ever spent tbh, the mental load of always thinking about cleaning was killing us both
  • TrickMirror9723 I clean houses for a living. All our clients love the work we do. Like you said, it frees up time to do other things and helps you keep your sanity. Glad to hear things. are going good OP!
  • Pleased_Bees Wow, only $300 a month for biweekly cleaning? That's incredible. In my area it would be $1200. You were smart to set that up. Has your husband agreed that the cleaning service is worth it?
  • CompostAwayNotThrow Studies show that spending money on things that save you time - like a cleaning service or yard service result in a ton of satisfaction for a purchase. Way more than buying material stuff. -
  • ptkerwin 4 hours on bathrooms. How may bathrooms do you have???
  • Few Whereas 5206 We have a cleaning service once per month. It is a lifesaver. We pay 125 per cleaning.
