'Missing cat' turns up after 29 days discovered in the same 100 year old family home after insomniac dad catches her stealing the other cat's food at 3 am, leaving them both equally surprised

Finding your cat after losing them has to be the most cathartic feeling in the world.

You're so worried, as a cat owner, when your cat goes missing. Because you know just how dependent they are on you. You feed them, you give them water, you clean up after them and love on them. They may act as if they are independent, but one look at them is enough for us to know that they would not survive one day without us. And the thought of them alone, in the big wide world, without us to tend to each and every one of their needs, is terrifying.

The last thing you want is for your cat to go missing, but if you are one of the lucky ones who gets to reunite with your cat, then you become the happiest person in the world. And for the person in this story, that feeling must have been even better, because this kitty was not lost in the big wide world. The kitty was lost in a giant 100-year-old mansion, surrounded by family, and stealing the other cat's food in the middle of the night. Went on an adventure, this little one, and then came right back home.

If we are imagining the right thing when we read “100+ year old house”, then really, you should have known the kitty was in a hiding place somewhere in there. A mansion like that is basically like an endless playground for a cat. So many places to discover. So many cozy little spots to chill in. Five hours could never have been enough to go through all the potential hiding places the kitty could have found. But we would have also found some peace in that - knowing that she was most likely still in there somewhere, just waiting for the right moment to come back out into the world of the humans.

We can imagine the moment that the dad found her purrfectly. The kitty, sneaking out into the wide home from its hiding spot in search of food. The father, tired out of his mind, on the way to the kitchen, doing the exact same thing. And the two of them, coming acorss each other in the hall on their way to their respective quests, both equally as surprised by the other one being there. We can see it so clearly, and the image of it makes us snort each and every time.
