26-year-old GF leaves 27-year-old BF after he pays $18,500 for 140 pound cheese wheel: 'She... wasn't happy about how I spent my share of our house savings'

This man thought he'd be raking in the cheddar after purchasing an $18,5000 cheese wheel, but he's now realizing he has 0 idea how to sell off this huge purchase.

People love a good side hustle — it can feel like the only way to actually accomplish your life goals. Even if you have a full time job with a good salary, it's not like you can afford a house or retirement that way. If you do want those things, you can try being born rich, or if you're past that point, you can save money like your life depends on it. You'll have to squeeze every dollar, combine your finances with your partner, and make a serious, concerted effort to save over the course of years. It'll be worth the wait when you finally do accomplish your financial goals!

However, this guy squandered he and his girlfriend's money in one of the funniest ways I've ever heard of. This is truly one of my favorite stories of the year so far! He had a brilliant plan to purchase a giant cheese wheel, then resell it in chunks. Hmm, okay, not a terrible plan on first thought. But, as commenters urged him to consider, who exactly would he be selling this cheese to? Does he have a vendor's booth, a business, even a few chefs to connect with? No. Probably not. Who in the world is going to buy random cheese from some dude off the street? Is he going to post it on Facebook Marketplace? The line of questioning gets funnier and funnier the more you consider it.

Commenters — 2,000+ of them! — banded together to lob questions at the cheese buyer. One person pointed out that this guy needs a food safety license to properly slice and wrap this thing. Does he have that? Nope! Another person pointed out that his plan to slice the cheese then freeze it was um… just a terrible plan! Who is going to want cheese that's been properly aged, then cracked open and popped in a freezer, then sold by a random Canadian?

This is one of the rare stories where the comments are possibly funnier than the story itself. They're a must-read; the story of an inadvertent cheesemonger realizing that he cannot even crack open his own very expensive, swiftly-perishing cheese wheel!

When a commenter asks how it tastes, he admits that he hasn't managed to break through the thick wax of it. Using a hair dryer and other tools, he's been trying to get into the wheel, but I wonder if heating the sealed cheese will only spoil it faster. He gets downvoted to oblivion as comment after comment reveals how unprepared he is for this commitment. Who wants to pay $120 for a pound of cheese? For scale, if you ever go to the cheese section at the grocery store, you can get one of those palm-sized wedges for maybe $4 or $6, and even the nicer ones rarely cost more than $15 or so. Asking for $60 for a little tiny wedge of cheese just isn't going to appeal to most crowds, who just want to make a nice charcuterie board or have some cheese to feed to their kids.
