The fact that the couple ultimately threatened to cancel the ceremony and elope instead should have gotten the groom's family members to calm down… but it didn't. They dug their heels into the ground, and in the end, so did the bride. They ended up actually eloping.
Sounds like her in-laws stirred up all this trouble, only for everyone to miss out on the ceremony and reception. Our guess is that numerous parties in this conflict will be able to forgive each other moving forward. The bride and groom will always feel like they were unable to have the wedding of their dreams because of his family's ridiculous needs. At the same time, you know this family is never going to be able to forgive the groom's wife after this either.
All I can say is thank goodness I'm not a part of this extended family!
