Valentine's Day is the holiday of love and romance, but many people don't know how these themes of love, Cupid, or romantic rituals originated. From ancient Greece to the Holy Roman Empire, these themes stayed tried and true to humanity. On the surface, the symbols of love include flowers, cards, chocolates, and grand gestures like making a reservation at the most expensive restaurant in town. But deep down, there's a lot to acknowledge about the history. It evolved from the idea of courtly love and written devotion. It became commercialized over time, and was a purrfect excuse for companies to charge money in accordance to how much you love someone.

Cats are somehow the purrfect animal to represent Valentine's Day. They're cute, cuddly, pretty, and romantic in their nature. Every animal has a sense of romance, but there's something about cats that just lives and breathes Valentine's Day. When you're single, cats are the perfect companion to keep you company. You can easily have date night at home by just turning on the tube and relaxing into the couch with your cutie. Dogs are perfect date partners as well, as you can actually take them out. Maybe go on a sunset hike with your pup and then hit up the local pub for a couple pints. Enjoy this Valentine's Day in style.

This year for Valentine's Day, my boyfriend and I are going to sit at a beautiful park next to water and lay out a picnic blanket, drink some bubbles, and eat some scrumptious cheese. Then we're going to just relax at home, play video games, watch our cute anime, and order delivery food. We don't want to go out somewhere and face crowds and lots of people. It's not about money for us or getting dressed up, we just want something wholesome and cozy. Plus, it was just recently my birthday so we spent a little too much money on going out.
