"My insane ex roommate kicked me out and tried to petnap my cat"

2:29 1430 TEMU S 64 You have 30 days, March 4 to get your things out of my house before I start going through it and dispose of what you left. I will remind you over the 30 days if I don't hear from you. Ive already told you. You can have all of it. Give Alouette to She is not your cat and you are not allowed to make decisions for her. I will be getting police involved if you do not. I've already contacted animal control. By default you abandoned her in my care therefore she is mine. All I have

2:29 TEMU 64 I've already contacted animal control. By default you abandoned her in my care therefore she is mine. All I have to do is take her to the shelter and get her microchipped. You kicked me out, I couldn't take her. That is not your cat and you are not allowed to keep her. I am not arguing. She is mine. That is not your decision anymore when you left her. Excuse you? That is not your fucking cat. End of story. I know you've got a kleptomaniac problem but this is a new low even for you.

Okay first let me get this out of the way. I am safe and so is my cat. I just wanted to share my story, and maybe a little extra details.

So, this person, we'll call her S, and I have known eachother since middle school (im 20 and shes about to be 21) and I needed a place to stay, so S offered me a room.
  • 05
I had always had a small issue with how S acted (shes a pathological liar and has a victim complex and a savior complex together, somehow) but I put my own feelings aside so myself and my cat could be safe.

Yesterday things blew up and I dont usually tell her off but I was already annoyed and she kept pushing on my boundaries. She kicked me out, texted me about getting my stuff earlier today, and honestly I already have everything I need like important documents and such, so the only thing I want is to get away.

I told her yesterday to give my cat to a friend of mine, abd she didn't respond so I reiterated today and she started this. Which by the way is a complete lie because where we live a pet cannot be claimed abondond until 10 days after a notice to move my things out has been given.

Now of course, S didn't know this, because shes sloppy. So I call her and tell her that shes lying and she panics, and takes my cat to the animal shelter. They contact me, she dips, and I take my cat to my friend's until I can get an apartment on my own.

Happy resolution, I hope from the bottom of my heart this girl seeks professional help.

dkbGeek How long did you live there before the blowout? And what state are you in? If you lived there a while, received mail there, etc. you're a tenant and she can't just "throw you out" on a whim. I get that you don't want to go back to living with the crazy person, but it could be fun to play hardball about the illegal eviction. She also has no right to your belongings.

Petal Miku OP Oh I already know I could absolutely sue her for A LOT, I've made a list that I'll write after this. If it was anyone else I would absolutely pursue legal action, but I wont simply because in the one and a half day I haven't had to constantly engage with her, the air around me is already easier to breathe.

Wrongful eviction, I'm not on her lease so I'm considerd a month to month tenant. S cant just kick me out, and instead has to give me a 30 day notice to leave.

Emotional distress: attempting to take my cat and putting me within a panic spiral state for days, and wage loss (we worked together and because i dont own a car she would drive me in, so I couldnt get to work for my final two weeks, luckily my boss has been very understanding.) Actual damage: moving costs, rent diffrence, hotel cost

PageFault FYI, you cannot be kicked out without notice. If that's what happened, you may still have the right to access the property. If this is the case, then police will let you in if roommate does not. If you were given notice, then my question would be why you didn't take the cat when you left.

Petal_Miku OP I was not given notice until this text. Her and I got into an argument and she said she wanted me out by tomorrow (yesterday) and I couldn't take her at first because I cant just walk around with her in my arms, and I wasnt willing to risk her getting hurt.
