  • If you ask me, working from home, especially in a different time zone, is a lot harder than working from an office. Sure, you get to skip the commute, and sometimes work from the comfort of your bed, but fully working from home requires a level of focus and discipline many of us do not possess.

    It is clear that this employee does have the discipline and devotion for her job, since she is able to say ‘no’ to social outings during the hours she is supposed to be working. And instead of supporting her, her partner is doing the exact opposite by diminishing the importance of her job.

    So it made perfect sense that this employee felt the need to teach her partner a lesson that would stop him from ever disrespecting her job.

    It doesn't matter what she does or how she does it; he should have been supportive and accepting. The question is, after proving this point, will he actually be supportive, or will he forget about his actions in a matter of days?

  • buttonandthemonkey Good job. I don't think he actually takes your job seriously now though, he just doesn't want his finances interrupted. This isn't even really about your job. It's that he doesn't respect you enough to find out what you do for work and his refusal to accept what you tell him. And he doesn't respect you enough to move a dinner 1 night so you could be included. This is a much bigger issue than him not understanding your job.
