You don't only need to worry about the golden child sibling… You must also worry about the golden child cousin.

Yes, you read that right. Sibling rivalries are the starting point, but boy, does it get worse than that. Your parents don't need to be directly related to others for them to show favoritism for others and not you. At the end of the day, you can be the best, picture-perfect child for them, and they won't care. Not every parent is programmed to unconditionally love their children, unfortunately, and that's the toughest pill to swallow in adulthood.

  • So, the woman's father decides that his nephew's comfort is above his daughter's and her husband's… That's a pretty rough situation. If his nephew has a real reason for not wanting other people in the home, say, maybe he was bringing a new partner there for the first time, that would be understandable. But, not only does the nephew have no ground to his alleged “routine," but also, the woman's father took his side immediately. His daughter's needs and overall comfort are not a concern for him, nor is it something he's willing to reconsider after the fact.

    What is there for this woman to do, though? It's her father's home, and she's been given no choice but to leave. It's a rough situation to be in, but it seems as though the only person feeling shame is the woman. Her father? He couldn't care less.

  • That did not go over well. I ended up booking an airbnb because I couldnt force him to let us stay.
