Frankly, making friends as an adult is tough, but when you're also a parent, juggling soccer schedules, weekend school concerts, and scholastic events, it's hard to carve out time with other adults. Don't get me wrong, parents are friends with their spouse and their kids, but a family relationship is just not the same as a bona fide, ride-or-d!e camaraderie.
For that, most moms go without, waiting for their kids to be old enough to be on their own and steeling away their 30s, 40s, and 50s to child-rearing before joining a book club, a walking group, or a pasta-making class. But for decades, are parents supposed to go without friends? Of course not. But despite the crushing loneliness of parenthood, most folks are too afraid to step out of their comfort zone, assuming that they're the only ones with this problem.

Well, a mom proved that she wasn't alone on the sinking friendship boat (the friend-ship, if you will). Funnily enough, all it took was an ever-growing invitation list, social-anxiety-crushing pep talks, and throwing caution to the wind to bring a woman the "village" she was searching for.

As an introvert, my social anxiety could never. However, when a person reaches out into the void hoping to contact another, like-minded soul, oftentimes they find what they're looking for. In my experience, when you need friends, they appear out of thin air, accepting your invitation to commiserate, communicate, and become real companions in this life.

As a parent, making friendships beyond the moments with your kids is another facet as well. A no-kid mom dinner was the perfect way to lean their spouses and have some girl time with other ladies in the same boat.

In life, a person often realizes that they're not alone. Although divisive, society yearns for in-person human connection, transcending acquaintanceship and becoming true, trustworthy friends.
For this community moms, dads, and kiddos, these connections not only brought them the friendship they were seeking, but the village of trusting adults, whose families could lean on one another in the good times and the bad. This village that everyone talks about is more than just a family structure; it's a connecting web of comrades who will help you when you need (and vice versa), and that support is all anyone really wants, right?
