I really feel for the person who shared this, a slow elevator is infuriatingly annoying even without a crazy person waiting for you inside it. But unfortunately for them, that was just the case. Someone waits for it, knowing they tapped the button firs,t only to watch it float past them and keep climbing like it has somewhere more important to be. When it finally starts its glacial descent the doors open to reveal a woman who has apparently nominated herself chief of access control. Instead of asking nicely or even pretending to be shy about her concern she just unleashes a full‑on command not to step in. The elevator is not a shared space in her mind it is a personal bubble hotel and everyone else is luggage.

The person being told to stay out is perfectly fit to ride an elevator (here’s a sentence i never thought I’d write) and in this case even works in healthcare so they know they’re are not the villain in this plot twist. They are just a bystander who suddenly got cast as a villain because someone else needs to feel like they are in charge. The real tell is tone few people who are actually immunocompromised show up to a situation like this and start barking orders. Most of them sound polite and slightly apologetic not like they are running a border checkpoint in a metal box.

The irony is that if someone is that scared of the air they should probably avoid the elevator altogether and take the stairs. But some people do not want to be safe they want to be seen as righteous. They want the drama of turning a four‑story ride into a stand‑off over whose breath matters more. The elevator is supposed to be a shared convenience not a battleground for someone’s ego disguised as concern
