Hero-Karen protects her 95-year-old neighbor from predatory door-to-door solicitors, chasing the unwanted conmen down the street: 'The 'No Solicitors' sign was there for your protection'

Karenish behavior rarely comes from a good place, but when this woman became a watchdog against predatory solicitors, her elderly neighbors were grateful for her tenacity.

With that said, the power of a tenacious Karen can surprisingly be harnessed for good, provided you're not on the receiving end of their vicious bite. Introverts, the elderly, and those with similarly small voices might struggle to stand up for themselves sometimes, often accepting their fate of people-pleasing mentality at the detriment of themselves, but a hero-Karen like the woman in this next story would never let that kind of steamrolling happen. 

    Not in her neighborhood. 

    She was a rather new resident on the block. Built in the 50s, the neighborhood was stumbling into disarray, aging into a geriatrification mode that made most of the residents an easy target for predatory solicitors. Swayed by their ill-fitting suits, chipper smiles, and overt confidence, the elderly are often the target for many door-to-door conmen. Still, this woman wasn't about to let her neighbors get taken advantage of by a gaggle of salesmen, and after giving them an earful for knocking on her ‘No Solicitors’ sign, she decided to give them a runaround lesson on consent and privacy… Even if it took her all day.

    Many years ago we bought a house on a street filled with original owners. The houses were built in the 50s, so all the neighbors were seniors.

  • The ‘No Solicitors’ sign should have been enough to disuade them, but door-to-door salesmen are known to be quite stubborn. However, they couldn't possibly be as stubborn or as passionate as this woman was about turning down a sale. Without skipping a beat, she became the neighborhood watchdog, ensuring her neighbors didn't have to deal with such snide, sneaky, and shady salesmanship. 

  • One pair of obnoxious men didn't care for my tirade, got offended and went next door to try their luck. Big mistake. That was my favorite neighbor, my window was open and I heard her say no twice but they wouldn't stop.

  • Presentation That2839 To be fair it's easier to buy one lone person. When you have two people saying no it's not as easy to steam roll them. So it's "I said no and will follow you down the street and support all my vulnerable neighbors in also telling you to f off" Its why I always hit 1 when I get a clearly scam call on my land line. Because every minute of their time I waste is a minute spent protecting someone's grandparents.
