Friends don't let friends get away with stuff they shouldn't. 

Have you ever called out a friend for their behavior when you felt like they deserved it? Maybe you have someone in your life who needs a talking-to. There is an issue in their life that they refuse to address, and you know it will take someone close to them calling them out on it for it to be okay. But you don't want to be that person. You don't want to face the brunt of the problem in case it comes back to bite you. Sometimes you just have to let people make the mistakes they're going to make, and know that they will learn the lessons that they need to without you. You can do some gentle prodding, but dressing someone down should be reserved for the rarest of occasions. 

If you find yourself resenting a friend, then you should ask yourself if you still want to be their friend. If you only have negative things to say about them, then why are you spending your time with them in the first place? Shouldn't you only surround yourself with people whom you care about? There is no reason to waste your free time on people you have nothing good to say about. But friendships can take a long time to end. They can draw out so long that nobody remembers what they were showing up for in the first place. And then all of a sudden, things implode.
