37-year-old wife catches 38-year-old husband messaging their 2nd grader's teacher

Teachers have no problem texting parents with updates… but should they be messaging at 11 PM? 

There are plenty of good reasons a teacher might need to reach out to parents. They may have to alert them to a child's bad behavior in class, or mention that the kid has been forgetting to turn in homework. Parents should be involved in their kid's schooling, and texting is one of the easiest ways to do that. Instead of an email that can be swiftly forgotten, a text will probably get answered a lot faster.

    This teacher has been messaging one of her second grader's fathers. She has been messaging him late at night. And she has been sharing memes with him. 

    Uh… 

    As you can imagine, this guy's wife was irate to discover their little “friendship” or whatever. She's asking if she's in the wrong here, and she's clearly not! You can read the story for yourself if you're ready for your jaw to drop (it's deleted now, too; I saved it from obscurity. You're so welcome.) 

    This Mom got some good advice for how to proceed from here, which is probably moreso what she was looking for with this post.

    savagewhimsy She's not texting about your son's reading at 11pm, she's texting your husband about TV shows and memes. That's not parent- teacher communication, that's an emotional affair starting.

  • I have a bad feeling that this Mom is just finding the tip of the iceberg. 

    I imagine the texting conversation between the husband and teacher started out innocently, but clearly, they enjoy talking to each other enough to keep it up for a while. They should've never really been texting at all, let alone sending memes, which we all know is an activity strictly reserved for your S.O. and closest friends. 

    But where there's smoke, there's fire. When the husband lied about the whole thing, he signaled that there's more to the relationship than meets the eye. And even if he just has a crush, he's hiding it from his wife. Lying to a spouse is grounds for a breakup for some… Perhaps this person will come back with an update to let us know how everything went down. Plus, will she tell on the teacher?

    let that stand. You're snooping was very justified in this case for the well- being of your relationship and family. I think it's time to sit down with your husband and have a serious talk and let him know that this isn't going to stand

    And for that matter this is unacceptable behavior from a teacher who is teaching your son. This actually should be brought up to the school as well. It might raise a lot of eyebrows and cause some drama sure, but any professional teacher wouldn't be taking

    Ok so let's consider this: the teacher is happily messaging with the husband at times that are indefensible. She knows this. I don't even think the Mom would be wrong in bringing her concerns to a school official. If the teacher is find with this type of impropriety, what other ways might she be bending the rules?
