Hilariously they came to me in about the same way, roughly 6 months and 1 mile apart. I was
  • 06
walking home from work and saw a kitty (the area is FULL of strays, outdoor cats, and ferals) and tried
  • 07
to see if she would let me pet her. She was 5months old and the sweetest thing ever. Guy came
  • 08
out of his house and asked if I wanted to adopt her! She was a stray that had been abandoned
  • 09
with a sibling next to a nearby school and he was feeding them but couldn't take them in, and
  • 10
her sibling had already been picked up by someone. He was very generous and lent me his cat
  • 11
carrier and I walked the rest of my way home with her. She's my 3yo caliby sweet pea, Ginkgo!
  • 12
My second beast it happened similarly - was walking home and saw a cat and tried to see if she'd
  • 13
let me pet her... no dice this time though; she was proper feral. But still, a guy came out of his house
  • 14
and asked me if I wanted to adopt a cat! Little lady was super pregnant, and ready to pop. She
  • 15
gave birth the next week and he asked me if I would be willing to take any of the little guys in, and I
  • 16
agreed since I was hoping to get at least one off the street if I could. We planned to wait 6-8ish
  • 17
weeks, hoping Momma wouldn't move them. He called me at 3.5 weeks though, saying that she
  • 18
seemed ready to go (she picked a bad spot to have her babies - right in front of his door) and we
  • 19
didn't want the opportunity to slip away so I ended up taking a kitten home that day, armed with
  • 20
the support of a friend who works at a shelter and does animal care. I was terrified since she was so
  • 21
little still and wasn't sure taking her from Momma was the right choice, but I figured I could give
  • 22
her a much safer life, loved and cared for, with none of the risks a feral cat faces on the daily. I
  • 23
raised her and now she's my happy, beefy (she's muscular like the Rock her shoulders are insane) 2yo Beau!
