I was just about to leave for work when I looked outside the foyer of our building and there she
  • 03
was! Sitting on the fence on the hottest day so far last year, looking very small, very skinny

and very ready to be taken in and loved. We estimate she would have only been about four

months old when we found her. My partner came down to collect her so I could head to work and
  • 09
also grab supplies, and from that day, she became our indoor only baby.
  • 10
I took her to the vet to check for a microchip and to do a little. check up, and all seemed fine
  • 11
(and she had no chip), but unbeknownst to all of us, she was actually pregnant! This little.
  • 12
Trojan ended up giving birth to five babies. We helped her take care of them, weighed them.
  • 13
everyday and did supplemental feeding if needed. One had swimmers, so we taped her legs and did little exercises until she
  • 14
was able to stand (and run) on all fours unassisted. Eventually when the babies were weaned, vaxxed
  • 15
and microchipped themselves, we gave four of them away to friends and family, and we kept one (Bean, the one who'd had leg
  • 16
problems) alongside our girl Fence. They've all since been spayed, so definitely no more babies now.
  • 17
Fence is only slight bigger in stature now than to when we found her. The vet reckons that due to early malnutrition, she's
  • 18
unlikely to ever grow, but she's definitely been able to put on some weight so she's now - 'compact' short and stout like a teapot!
  • 19
It's been a whirlwind year, but I am so grateful that Fence and I crossed paths on that punishingly
  • 20
hot day. To think I was considering calling off sick, I would have never stumbled
  • 21
across her and we never would have had our crazy girl Bean I'm so glad they're part of our life!
