German Shepherd puppy whose adoption caused rift between married couple, begins helping heartbroken wife grieve loss of soul dog: ‘It's like reliving Roxy's puppyhood and being given a second opportunity to furnish her with the same amount of love.’

This is one of those times when helping can almost instantly turn into hurting, but thankfully it turned right back into helping almost instantly. So join us on this journey of grief and getting over it.

The passing of a dog, especially a soul dog is one of the toughest things that any pawrent is likely to go through. You spend hours and days missing them, their smell, their funny quirks, all the while thinking if there was something you could have done differently to make the life they lived even better than it was. It is enough to make even those of us with the strongest resolve lose our minds.

Which is why when this grieving woman's husband presented her with a puppy she did not take to the gesture all too kindly, especially seeing as the puppy was a pawfect lookalike to her now passed on pupper. And while this similarity initially crushed her, and made her miss her doggo even more than before, it was also this introduction that helped her begin the healing process and move past the loss of her canine love. Showing how sometimes you must walk through the fire and the flames to come out the other side.

Wowza, that is some proper doggo dedication right there. An outward appreciation of all the support and love that her dog had given her throughout their many years together. We cannot imagine what it is like to lose a dog like that, a soul who you simply would not give up on. A soul who you would not leave behind no matter their physical condition. It must break a person deep inside to experience such a loss. But the intensity of these emotions stand to honor the memory of the beloved doggo who has passed. So while they might be a lot, they are only relative to the importance of the pupper who has passed on.

Oh man, talk about the graveyard of good intentions. This husband, while acting out of kindness and consideration has jumped to a conclusion that is not going to sit all too well with his wife. You could say that moving on from a passed pupper is not too dissimilar to how long you wait after a breakup to start dating again. Which would mean a wait of at least a month, and even then any dog who comes this woman’s way could well be a rebound anyway. Luckily this man seems to have been guided by a higher power in his choice of puppy to present to his grieving wife, but still the risk he took was unreasonable.
