32-year-old man mocks 23-year-old sister's babysitting gig, she starts charging him her full rate for watching his kids

This woman's older brother had the audacity to make fun of her side hustle while also taking her for granted.

Here's hoping he learned his lesson about what happens when you play games with the people you actually need by your side.

As for the young woman, let's take a moment to appreciate all that she is juggling while still being a student. First of all, it goes without saying that the vast majority of students do not have enough time on their hands to work full-time jobs while pursuing their studies.

Students who work deserve credit for taking on more responsibility than their classmates. They have to manage their class and work schedules while carving out some precious study time for themselves. Trying to squeeze in a robust social life on top of that makes it nearly impossible to balance, but so many students find a way to make it work.

The fact that this woman was babysitting her older brother's kids nearly every week for free, only to receive criticism from him for not getting a real job, only goes to show how much unnecessary pressure we put on student workers. They don't need unsolicited advice. They need support and understanding, especially from family members.

What's even more frustrating here is that the woman's mother somehow took the brother's side, as if he didn't deserve to experience the consequences of his words and actions. We're of the opinion that if this man doesn't value the free labor his younger sister has been doing for him as a favor (on top of her already packed schedule), then he shouldn't benefit from that work.
This woman's mother needs to rethink her priorities. Sure, having young kids can be hard work, and parents need all the help they can get. However, that should not come at the expense of decency for those who are willing to step up and take care of those kids. It should also not come at the expense of non-parents whose schedules are also jam-packed. This woman may only be a student, but that doesn't negate the fact that she has a lot going on, too. Her brother's need for her help does not overpower the sister's need for a base level of respect.
