Dumped Texan pit bull found in deeply neglected condition immediately taken to foster home after willingly entering rescue trap, rescuers say: ‘She's now settling in where she'll finally get the care, comfort, and love she's always deserved.’

Not all doggo rescue stories go as smoothly as this one. Which is why we wanted to share it with you and celebrate this small win together as one more pawdorable pupper is taken off the streets to live their best life.

Being abandoned in Texas is no joke. If the heat does not get you, then the lack of water and dangerous animals around are sure to leave their mark. And that is pretty much what this poor pupper had been subjected to until her brave rescuers turned up to save her life. Now, in most cases a rescuer hands over the pupper they save to a shelter, subjecting the doggo to only slightly better conditions than the ones they had just come from. Which is not easy to stomach, for the dog and for us.

But that is where this story differs from the rest as before they had even set off on this rescue mission, our pupper loving protagonist had already arranged for a foster to be ready and waiting. Meaning that this doggo got to go straight from the streets to the freshly washed sheets of her brand new dog bed. What more could you want for an abandoned doggo?

  • Oh goodness that is no state for any creature to be in. no matter what they might have done, or who they might be, no one deserves to walk around this world in so much pain and deprivation that they would rather not live. It is harrowing to think that so many doggos are found this way. But at least they are found in time and have brave and kind people like our protagonist to save them from any more neglect. Otherwise who knows how harrowing these kinds of situations could get.

  • Well, you could not hope for a sweeter end to a story that started so devoid of hope. We often remark about the state of the shelter system here and how it fails to support those who need its help the most. And here we have an example of what these situations should look like. Fosters should be vetted and ready to go at a moment’s notice, that way when a pupper in need is put in the hands of rescuers the doggo can immediately be brought to someone who will care for it the way it deserves.
