So here you have it… this worker has done their part. It's what every parent wants: for their kids to grow up successful and happy. While not every parent can pay for their children to attend college, many view it as a gift to their kids, who can then avoid student loan debt.

She could easily get a part time job at a retail store, why wouldn't she? Being a cashier or something is fairly easy, and it also gets you out of the house. You're contributing something to society. 46 year olds should be working, right? Unless they have a major reason to avoid it, they're still in the prime of their lives.

Let's hope that this parent can finally catch a break. The whole overtime thing sounds completely exhausting, and I don't blame them for wanting to slow down for a while. It must be impacting their health to live this way, and you'd hope that their wife would want them around as long as possible so they can actually enjoy their future with their kids.
After all, if you're not sleeping, and you're stressed out all the time, you're going to age rapidly. This person's wife seems to not care about any of that, and it should make them do some soul-searching about why that is. Why do they want to share a future with someone who demands they work themselves to the bone for no reason?
