Entitled couple demand wedding party cook welcome dinner for destination wedding: 'The couple charged the bridesmaids for dinner'

Would you attend a wedding if you knew that you were going to be one of the catering staff as well as a guest?

We all know that planning a wedding is often a stressful affair, and this is not just a responsibility that affects the bride. Indeed, it is possible for everyone in the wedding party to feel the pressure when it comes to putting on a big day that is nothing short of perfect. A lot of people feel like getting married is something that has to be big and impressive, and everybody involved has to do everything they can to make sure that this happens. If they don't, they risk the kind of argument that a friendship may never recover from.

It is fair to say that people who get married can sometimes make wedding demands that are unreasonable. They get tunnel vision, and decide that anything they want makes sense to everybody around them. It can make being a wedding guest turn into something that is a chore, as opposed to an enjoyable experience. It goes against the whole idea that a wedding should be a celebration for everybody who is involved, and a time to enjoy oneself.

  • In this story, a happy couple invited their guests to a destination wedding in southern Europe, planning a week of festivities for the bachelor and bachelorette. The busy vacations plans meant that the wedding party hoped for a day to recover before the wedding itself.

    Instead, the bride and groom decided to request that they cook the welcome dinner with the ingredients and recipes that were provided. In the end, the responsibility fell on the bridesmaids as the groomsmen went out with the groom. They were still charged for their share of the dinner.

  • rzdrk I know a girl in a wedding that has "assignments." One of them is "make brunch for the wedding party!" for the morning after the wedding (in addition to making bouquets the day before, setting up the ceremony and reception, taking everything down, etc). Your bridal party are supposed to be your friends, why are couples treating them like the help??

  • absolutelyfatulous I was at a wedding where we sat down for dinner and the Master of Ceremonies announced that at each table, one person had an apron on the back of their chair. If you had an apron on your chair, put it on and you would be serving the food to your table. These guests had to put on an apron, go up and collect a platter of meat, veg, and potato, and dish it out to everyone at the table.
