They're absolutely skin and bones, painfully malnourished. Thankfully my gf and I managed to safely rescue them, we've given them some boiled chicken and we'll be taking them to the vet tomorrow! Either a comic CDS or just a very lucky cat :)

My gf and I had planned to go out (coincidence 1), but because of the nice weather we (1) decided we should walk (coincidence 2).
  • 04
We walked maybe 20 minutes or so across town to go and have some food from Greggs, we then (completely spontaneously) decided to have a wander over to Pets4Homes (we were thinking about getting a pigeon as an indoor bird pet soon), which changed the routes I would take to get back home (coincidence 3).

I dropped my gf off at a Costa so she could do some writing, I stopped in at Tesco to pick myself up a pizza for dinner and started walking home.

The way home from Tesco in my town has 2 possible routes, one is a bit shorter and easier, but isn't quite as scenic, and is the one I would normally take. Like, 99/100 times.

Completely out of the blue, I decided to take the longer route, get some more fresh air and steps y'know? (coincidence 4) On my way down the street, this little darling came out and started rubbing up against my legs, so naturally I leaned down and gave them a pet, and I noticed they were absolutely bone thin, like 'oh god, ok, I have a duty of care here' kind of thin.

My gf stopped by a local charity shop to ask for a box, and caught a taxi while I kept the cat occupied, and then we managed to box them and transport them home! Will update with any news.

We've now got it in a cage, newspaper on the bottom, we've covered the cage with a blanket to keep it dark for it, and given it water and a little food, just waiting for a vet appointment.

Update From gf- 'worst part for me was how they didn't even put up a fight when we captured them, probably because the lil one didn't have the energy to'

We have a vet appointment in the morning, the emergency vet on call said the cat should be okay tonight :)

cattabyss Could you maybe put an old towel or blanket folded in the corner so kitty's bones don't have to be pressed against the hard surface? I imagine it's a bit painful to be on a hard surface with no fleshy padding for bones and joints. Thank you for helping this little soul. They're probably so grateful to be back inside (how is dumping animals treated in the UK? I'm assuming this one had been dumped, if they don't know how to survive outside and subsequently starve).

Sychius OP We have done so! Forgot to mention sorry, we've left the box that we brought them here in there with some clothes at the bottom to be cushioning, and then put a towel in as padding, they're curled up next to it :)

SuelnA2 Thank heavens for the CDS!! That kitty has absolutely beautiful fur; when it's healthier it will be so gorgeous! Is it a male or female? Thank you for rescuing this sweet baby!!!

Sychius OP 'Is it a male or female?' Haven't the foggiest! Unfortunately it's back end and tail are extremely matted, and I didn't want to be too invasive so we haven't got a positive on it at the moment, we'll figure it out in time :)

We decided to let out 'Karma' for a bit of a stroll around our place and to say hi, and they've decided to have a nap with us! We think she's a girl :) EDIT: Following a 'reveal' we had this morning, can in fact confirm that no, Karma is definitely a boy!

Just to show we've got them comfy :)) You can also see a bit of the really horrible matting the poor darling has :(

Spent a bit more time with Karma this morning before their appointment, after they woke us up with some heartbreaking meows. Immediately after pulling this move we had pretty definitive proof that Karma is in fact a boy! Mystery solved there at least :P
