It can be something almost mystical about the way cats choose their people. I know that when I got my little cat he really took to me more than all the other roommates, and years later we're still the dynamic duo. It never feels logical or planned, instead it happens randomly, and before you know it there's a cat meowing in your ear and rubbing against your legs. You might think you're the one doing the choosing, but deep down it feels like the decision was never yours. Being chosen by a cat feels serendipitous. It's like something amazing just stumbled upon you and you don't even have a say in it. Cats are usually known for their independence, their selective affection, their careful observation of the world. So when one (or two) decide that you're safe and theirs, it really feels significant. It's not taken lightly, and you shouldn't take it lightly either. It's earned in little ways, energetic shifts, ways that make the cat just feel absolutely safe. It's about being in the right place at the right time.
