'You belong to me now, got it?': Tiny feral barn kitten leaves animal-loving farmer no choice when she wholesomely adopts him to be her new dad

No matter how manly and rugged you are, when a barn kitten chooses you as her new dad, you say, "Yes, thank you."

Cats don't care if you're big or small, manly or feminine, or rich or poor, they just want you to serve their every whim and fancy for the rest of their lives. And by "serve them", we mean love them, but sometimes, it really feels like serving. Especially when they randomly decide they don't like their food they've been eating for years now, and you have to run out and get a whole new brand just so they will end their spontaneous hunger strike.

They also don't care if you've never had a cat before, or if you even like cats. That's what happened to our animal-loving farmer below, who knows a lot about cows and chickens, but nothing about kittens. That is, until he posted some pictures of his new daughter online and asked for advice. Thankfully, the cat community came to his rescue, and the two are purrfectly ready to start to build a new life together as father and daughter, or master and servant.

    I know nothing about cats. I know cattle and chickens yet here we are. What do I do how do I care for it. I want to help and I guess I now have a pet cat instead of barn cats? Idk I am lost someone please help

  • Once you get past the super-young-kitten stage, it gets a lot easier. Once they can go to the bathroom on their own and eat wet food, your life becomes “normal” again. But until then, she's like a hooman baby - she needs to be fed every couple of ours, and she'll need help relieving herself. Keep her warm, and the more physical contact you can get with her, the better. It will help bond the two of you together, as well as help her feel safe.

    Edit: Only realized this today but the momma has been increasingly friendly. Maybe wanting something? I have farm scratch, idk if there is something they can't have. They apparently will not eat chicken feed fyi. Do I feed it meat or do I need to do a milk bottle?

    dancing_by_myself0 Treat em right and soon you'll have a fully grown neck warmer. Had my lil buddy fuve years now and he still jumps up into my arms and climbs up on my shoulders. It's his way of telling me I'm not going anywhere till he's okay with it.

  • The Kitten Lady is probably the best resource out there for young kitten care. She's been in the business of helping people who love cats take care of them for as long as we can remember. She's thorough, kind, and really knows her stuff. If you ever find a kitten that's too young to be separated from its mother, please use her as a resource to ensure the kitten gets proper care.

    Then get a litter box, non- clumping, unscented cat litter. Som people use pine pellets. Glass or stainless steel bowl(s), maybe a water fountain if you're interested in providing one. They can get messy or unused. Easy to give away if you're cool with that

    Make an appointment with your local vet. Check for fleas, worms, FIV. Your vet will know the drill! That last picture is so perfect!

She's what I called my Kitten Guru Goddess when my spouse and I finally got our stray and her seven babies inside our house. I swear I was on the phone to the rescue helping us and watching her videos nonstop on every single question I had, which was a lot.
