  • Neighbor hired a bucket truck to trim 2 inches of my tree and now wants me to pay for it

I have this massive old oak tree in my backyard. It is been there since before I bought the house and yeah, maybe one small branch hangs over the fence line by like a few inches.
  • My neighbor is one of those guys who treats his lawn like a golf course and apparently my tree is a "threat" to his precious grass because of the shade or whatever.
  • Yesterday I get home from work and there is a literal bucket truck in his driveway.
  • I see a contractor up there hacking away at the branch that crosses the line.
  • Fine, legally he can trim what is on his side, I get that.
  • But then I hear a loud crk and a massive thud. The guy "accidentally " dropped a heavy limb right onto my wooden fence.
  • It is not totally destroyed but there is a huge splintered gap now and the gate doesnt close right anymore.
  • I went out there to ask what the h was going on and my neighbor just smugly hands me a piece of paper.
  • A contractor takes a chainsaw to an oak tree.
  • It is an invoice for $400 for the " professional tree service." He tells me that since it is my tree , I am responsible for the maintenance and I owe him for the rental of the lift.
  • When I pointed at my broken fence, he just shrugged and said "if you kept your tree in check this wouldnt have happened." He is actually do d serious.
  • He thinks he can hire a crew to come to his property, damage my fence, and then send me the bill for the privilege
  • I told him to pnd sand and that I am expecting him to pay for the fence repairs.
  • A contractor takes a chainsaw to an oak tree.
  • He just went inside and now he is ignoring my texts. I am honestly losing my mind with this guy.
  • How do people even function with this level of entitlement ? I am half tempted to just call my insurance and let them deal with his invoice" and the fence damage.
