Listen, a quick mist from a water bottle could do wonders
I guess the main issue is that they can't see the cat from their house. Maybe a Ring camera is in order? Especially if they got the kind of camera that you can talk through, they could try to tell the cat to skeedaddle. Will Kitty listen? Dubious! Doubtful! What other options are there…?

Is a car cover a good idea?
Seems annoying to use for a person who uses their car multiple times a day, or even just does a daily commute. If they use their car like, twice a week, then sure.

This is a great point too!
Although I think this person was concerned that the car might be making biscuits on their car, which totally could damage it.

Maybe this is the real answer!
A simple cardboard box could solve this problem! Cats often have that "If I fits, I sits," mentality, and gosh, they love an opened cardboard box. If that doesn't work, cats are also drawn to squares: you simply make a square out of chalk or tape, and the cat will find it irresistible.
