A man working from home in Orlando agreed to host his family for spring break on the condition they would spend their days out doing tourist things. They changed the plan and decided to stay home. Instead of changing his life for them, he changed his outfit against them

I really appreciate this guy, because, instead of the usual if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, he opted for if you can't ask 'em, cringe 'em. There's an ancient and underappreciated negotiation tactic that requires no lawyers, no mediators, and no raised voices. It only requires a willingness to own the situation more aggressively than the other party is comfortable with. Most people fold before it even gets to that point.

The plan was clear, the agreement was reasonable, and then a phone call happened five days before arrival and suddenly the theme parks were too expensive and the house was very comfortable and surely it would not be a problem.

  • NightVisionsll NTA in any way, and the Speedos are a great solution. If they couldn't afford the tickets, they should have gone elsewhere or stayed home. Your job is far more important than their comfort. Though next time, get some backbone going, skip the parental guilt trip, and just say NO. If they can't respect your working situation, they definitely need to stay in a hotel.
