Musicians are weighing in after a new cat owner worries about his gear, only to find that felines have a funny affinity for Rock & Roll: ‘She will try to climb BETWEEN me and the guitar.’

Adopting a cat can change a lot of aspects in your life that you didn't think needed any special attention. But just as this one guitar player below, who recently became a cat pawrent, found out - cats are true mewsicians when it comes to a house full of instruments.

First of all, we have to admit that adopting a cat changes your life. Yes, we love cats, it was never a secret. But even as avid cat fans, we have to admit the fact that a lot of things need to shift around to accommodate the fact that a new feline family member has joined the house as a permanent resident. And for musicians, hobbyist or pawfessional, this realization comes quicker than for most.

Music is loud. Guitar with an amp, piano that reverberates through the walls, and trombones… we don't need to describe how loud these things are. But high volume is usually not compatible with cats. So if you have a passion for both picks and purrs, what would you do? Well, as it turns out, cats and music go very well together. This one guitarist, who has just gained the title of "cat dad", got all his answers from other guitar players with feline family members. And honestly? It's everything on the spectrum of Pawdorable to Rock & Roll!

Before we fret our way into the lovely, funny, and also serious advice of the pawfessional musicians, we asked our cat pawrent colleagues to tell us - how do they combine their pet life with music? Here are a few of our favorite answers, in no purrticular order:
“My cat is deaf. I play bass in a band with friends. Every time they come, he knows - it's time to sit on the amp and feel these low bass vibrations. It's his favorite time of the week.”
“I play trumpet since I was a 6-year-old. I recently got a kitten, and she's absolutely adorable. She's so small and young that she doesn't grasp the concept of fearing loud sounds yet. When I practice, she just sits there, mewing the smallest mews whenever I stop. It's cute."
“I have a piano at home. My absolute unit of a cat learned that if he flings his entire body weight onto the keys, I'd do anything to stop the noise. This is his way to ask for treats now. Multiple times a day.”
“Unfortunately, my kitten is afraid of my flute. I'm really trying to practice as far away from him as possible. It's working kind of okay for now.”
