Am I the jerk for using a Brillo pad and my roommates cat getting into it?

My roommate (20F) and I(20F) are currently not talking right now because of a situation that occurred last Tuesday.
  • 03
Basically what happened was I was using a Brillo pad to scrub dried stuff off pans and stuff while doing dishes before class.
  • 04
once I was done, I put everything like soap and sponges in the sink and covered it with a towel and weighted fabric plush to keep the cats out of it, which usually works.
  • 05
However, when I came home Tuesday night, I found the Brillo pad chewed up in front of door while my roommate was in the shower, despite knowing I had put it in the sink with everything else.

My roommates cat was the only one in the living room, my cat was locked in my room while I was at class cause we're introducing them.

Since he was the only one out, I knew he fished out of the sink. (He also is the only one who likes to chew on non-food item.) I let my roommate know to check on her cat as soon as she got out of the shower and showed her the Brillo pad.

She comes from a wealthy family and had no idea what it was until I told her.

'I also feel like she's calling me dirty and lazy'
  • 11
Thankfully, her cat is fine but then she started giving me the cold shoulder, ignoring me, or giving me short and cold answers since then.
  • 12
Yesterday, I had had enough and finally sat down with her and asked about it while doing a play session with our cats.
  • 13
I asked her why she had been icing me out and she basically said "I don't want him getting into anymore trash, I'm tired of it.
  • 14
And these introductions are pointless, I don't want you coming to my room anymore unless it's absolutely necessary, and I'm afraid of what your cat is gonna do to him." (Context for cats: my cat is a grumpy girl but they were doing really well together ever since we started introductions in December.

On Wednesday, her cat got out of her room when I went to ask her a question about watching him while she was gone and our cats had a brief interaction.) After this, I had to take a walk in the rain to cool down before I said anything to her.
  • 16
I feel like she blames me for her cat getting into stuff, majority of it being hers.
  • 17
I also feel like she's calling me dirty and lazy but I'm the one who does most of the dishes, buys most of the snacks, takes out most of the garbage and recycle, buys most of the water, and am the only one who removes hair from the bathtub drain and food clogging the garbage disposal.
  • 18
Not to mention, shes very hypocritical in the sense that she leaves trash all over her room that I've picked up before while checking on her cat cause he was getting into it.
  • 19
At this point, I hate to admit it but I'm starting to think what everyone told me about her is right.
  • 20
She's moving after the semester ends and I'm honestly done so I don't really care anymore.

UPDATE: she's acting like everything's fine and nothing happened. *
